Why be a Rocker?
We provide organized activities for age 50+ adults, primarily focused on physical activities, but also social interaction. Studies show that staying physically and socially active can actually lead to longer life and may even reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease!
Exercise
Several physical activities are scheduled every week. Regular exercise is recognized to aid in weight control, improved cardiovascular health, stronger bones and muscles, improved mental health, improved balance and longer life.
Social
In addition to the social interaction of our sports activities, the GOYR calendar includes a number of social events each month. Research has shown that social interaction offers older adults many benefits. Staying socially active and maintaining interpersonal relationships can help you maintain good physical and emotional health and cognitive function.
Financial
All our activities are provided at a very low cost. Our annual dues are low, and many activities (biking, hiking, walking, boogie-boarding) are free, while others are low cost.
