The Marston House was constructed in 1905 for George and Anna Marston and is considered one the finest examples of "Arts and Crafts" in California. Mr. Marston is noted for many things but most prominently as a civic leader whose interest and work in historic preservations, conservation and history is well-known. The property was designed and built by the internationally renowned architects William Sterling  Hebbard and Irving Gill. It is surrounded by 5 acres of rolling lawns, manicured gardens and rustic canyons. It became a house museum when the Marston family gave it to the city on 1987.

We'll tour the house with a docent and then we're free to stroll the gardens at leisure. Bring a lunch if you want to eat in the gardens or you can easily go over to the many eateries in town. Please arrive by 10:15 for our 10:30 tour. We will be divided into 2 groups with the second group starting 10 minutes later but we'll join up at the end in the main room.

The tour is $10 payable to Deanna in cash on that day or you can mail a check prior. Let me know if you need more info.

Parking is tricky as there is NO parking on the residential street that the house is located on
. There is ample free parking all along Balboa Drive, Sixth Ave and Upas and Thorn Streets but plan time for parking and walking to the house. A detailed parking map is available on their website.

Public bathrooms are located in the parking area near the playground on Balboa Drive at Thorn Street. Bathroom facilities at the house are limited.
