Fred Shatsky is a GOYR member and docent tour guide with the US Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. Also as a speaker with the Midway‘s outreach department, he‘s given many lectures throughout San Diego about the Midway. Because of the pandemic, lectures are currently presented by Zoom sessions rather than in person. Fred has adapted a lecture specifically for the Rockers to be presented in a Zoom session at 10 AM Friday Jan 29. The 1 hour program will be a Power Point slide show in which he will discuss the history of Midway becoming the longest serving aircraft carrier in the 20th century upon retirement after 47 years. Further he will discuss all the hurdles that were overcome to make it the world‘s most popular historic ship museum, San Diego‘s number one attraction, and "America‘s Living Symbol of Freedom" in the 21st century".
