Summer with the Rockers means picnics! We meet at 5 p.m. one Friday in June, July, August and September at De Anza Cove, Mission Bay. The club provides the hot dogs, buns and condiments, and members bring a dish to share and their own beverages. We also enjoy a fire and games like bocce ball and ring toss.

In the summer, we love to boogie board at Mission Beach. Bring a chair, a towel, lots of sunscreen, a snack and a boogie board. Other seasons, we do beach walks at other San Diego County beaches as well as other water sports. Our activities are all year round.

On Mondays, we bike at 10:00 am on flat, paved surfaces; primarily on bicycle paths (with a few exceptions). We start and finish at the same place. The rides are usually around 13 to 16 miles and include a midpoint refreshment stop. We often follow the ride with lunch. Helmets are required. Pedal Pushers - Also on Mondays, this group starts at the same location (with some exceptions) but departs at 10:15 a.m. The description is the same as Biking above but at a more leisurely pace. Long Bike Rides - On an irregular basis, we also have bike rides that are a little longer (20 to 28 miles) and faster than the Monday rides. These are designed mainly for e-bikes, but experienced long-distance bikers are welcome. Members may volunteer to lead a special ride.

This activity will be a stroll through one of San Diego's many designated locations to spot birds of all types. San Diego is one of the birdiest counties in the USA. Expect the unexpected. There is always a bird that you will call your "bird of the day"! We will meet at 8:30 a.m. and finish at 10:45 a.m. twice a month.

We are mostly RVs and trailers, a few tents and some who are without wheels (WOW) and request cabins or rooms nearby. Destinations can be within a 2- to 3-hour drive, others are 300 to 400 miles to even more exciting places. Some activities are planned--always including communal Happy Hours and evening meals.

The Walking activity is on Wednesdays, either in the morning (10:00 a.m.) for a 1-1/2 to 2 hour walk, or early evening (4 or 5 p.m., depending on season) for a 1-hour walk. You may go only part of the walk at your own pace and end your exercise whenever you want. Two-hour walks may include slight inclines, beach walks on sand, or uneven dirt paths. Lunch or dinner will be optional after the walks. For evening walks, inform or call/text the leader before the walk, if you will not be going to dinner. Restaurant dinner reservations are made at 1:00 p.m. on the day of the walk, so you must sign up by that time. Extreme hot weather or rain may cause cancellation of the walk, so please check the website calendar for updates.
