The August 31 session will meet at the home of Rockin' Rockers member and GOYR President, Rod Innes, at 3663 Eugene Place, San Diego. We'll play our music for about an hour, and then Rod and Mary Jo McCall will host a "Sloppy Joe" Party, providing the Sloppy fixins' and soft drinks. Rockin' Rockers members and one additional guest are welcome. Bring a side dish or appetizer or dessert to share, your own non-soft drinks and, of course, your guitar/ukelele/flute/drum set/auto harp/tambourine and any other instrument you can lay your hands on. The swimming pool will be open (87º water), so bring your swim suit and towel. Please RSVP by August 28 directly to Rod at rwi92116@gmail.com.

About this event

rockin_rockers

The best way to improve your musical skills is to play with a group.  So, if you like to sing (not required), have a string instrument or keyboard, and know at least two chords, you are ready to join the Rockin' Rockers!

Here is how it works: Using a three-ring binder (“songbook”) containing dozens of songs with their chords and lyrics printed out, we sing and play simple songs of a few chords each. When you see a chord you know, play it.  If you don't know the chord, skip it (for reference, the songbook also has a printed chord chart). You will thrive on the energy of the group and will want to learn another chord and, over a few sessions, your playing will improve.

If you already know how to play, come strum your heart out, enjoy the camaraderie and provide encouragement to the newcomers.

If you only want to sing and not play, come and enjoy singing with the group.  It would be wonderful if someone with a good singing voice could come and try to keep us in tune.
