On this amazing trip you'll get to see up close and personal snow-dusted buffalo, boiling geysers and all the wonders of Yellowstone National Park cloaked in its winter glory. It’ll feel like you have the park to yourself, as you traverse forests, open fields and geyser basins at a time when the park interior is accessible to only a few over-the-snow vehicles. Amid this transformed landscape, encounter winter wildlife as a naturalist interprets their long vigil for the return of spring food sources and witness the surreal spectacle created by the play of icy winter air with steaming thermal features bubbling and erupting from the earth.

Professional naturalists will accompany you across the snow in warm, comfortable snow coaches with large windows ideal for photographing wildlife and winter landscapes.  In addition, you'll experience unique geologic and thermal features of the park that are even more spectacular in winter.  You'll also witness a "bison-jam" and watch herds of these animals exhale vaporous breaths as they lumber across the ice and snow.

Private transportation is required to and from Bozeman, Montana.  There doesn't appear to be a direct flight between San Diego and Bozeman.  You might have to catch a  flight out of LAX.  Airlines that fly into Bozeman include:  Delta, United, Allegiant, American, Alaska, Frontier and Jet Blue.

Additionally, private transportation is required to and from the Bozeman airport to Yellowstone.  Road Scholar recommends using North of Yellowstone (406-580-2286), a private shuttle service; drive time approximately 2 hours, 89 miles.

Depending on your flight schedule, you might want to fly into Bozeman February 1st to ensure you at the park for the gettogether at 4pm on February 2nd.  Road Scholar recommends making your hotel reservation for February 1st direct with the hotel; West  Yellowstone Holiday Inn at 800-646-7365.  Please let the hotel know you are with the Road Scholar group and want to stay in the same room the entire time you are in the park.  You might be able to get the Road Scholar rate.

This trip is open to the public, make your reservations asap.
