Description: The highlight of this hike through Penasquitos Canyon is the waterfall located 3 miles from the trailhead. It is a very nice place to have a snack and watch the water flow over the volcanic rocks. Penasquitos Canyon is part of the 1st Mexican Land Grant offered in California in 1823. The trail is fairly level and mostly follows through the middle of the canyon along Penasquitos Creek.
Poles not necessary, bring fluids and a snack, porta potty at trailhead.
Location: The large parking area is located on the south side of Sorrento Valley Blvd. approximately 1 mile east of Sorrento Parkway. No GPS address. From I – 5 North, exit on Sorrento Valley Road and turn left on Roselle Street. Go 0.1 miles and turn right on Sorrento Valley Blvd.
